Usagimaru:
So we haven’t put out an episode in a while. I guess that has a lot to do with me and Moonstone both going off to college and not having good coordination skills. We’re both off doing our own things, and it’s hard to find a common time when our roommates aren’t around us and we are in the mood to record. Which brings me to another reason why we haven’t recorded AniMentors in a while: lack of desire. I have the strong desire on some days, but it came down to a coordination issue. Then on other days we would have the time and privacy to crank out an episode, but would rather just talk on skype or troll omegle. Moonstone has been putting out BustGunner, an abridge series for Gunbuster for a while and we worked together on the script for an abridged series for Fuuma no Kojirou. It’s not that we’ve been completely stagnant, just that we’ve been neglecting what first got us presence on the Internet.
I’m hoping this will turn out to be a good thing. Even though you fans have suffered from the delays, I think Moonstone and I can both agree that the break has been good. It’s given us a good amount of time to figure out what we actually want to do with the podcast, instead of just keeping on trying to shotgun ideas out, and not follow through with them, like we used to. The AniMentors podcast is going to be what it has always been: loosely structured hilarity with occasional scripted gloriousness. We’re not going to bullshit you and pretend like there will be a concrete structure or seriousness. From what I can tell that’s not the reason why you guys listen anyway.
I also never want to feel force or obligated to do an episode. There’s always our motto, we DO need to let the Internet know, but fuck the Internet. We hate those guys. The podcast needs to be fun for us to do, which might mean a very sparse release schedule, but the content will benefit from it greatly. Who knows, maybe we’ll even edit and episode! (GASP!)
The past couple months we’ve also been locking down what exactly needs to be done with themented.com. I think we’ve got enough people utilizing site as a place to create a wordpress blog, but we want to start back up our forum. There’s a slight learning curve to figure out how everything works in it, but it’s integration with the site is priceless and miles beyond what we hoped for.
You can always email us at animentors@themented.com
Use the new site design and send us a message to Usagimaru or Moonstone
Or IM us on Skype to Usagimaru57 or Epicmoonstone
tl;dr – Check out the other projects we’ve been doing. We’ll put out episodes when we put out episodes. Cheers!
